Lapperts Ice Cream Palm Desert

Lapperts Ice CreamI happened to be in Palm Desert and surprise… the temperature was nearly 100 degrees.  So what do you eat in that sort of heat…. ICE CREAM.  I stumbled upon a gem of a store tucked away in shopping center on Varner Rd.

The original Lapperts Ice Cream has been around since the early 80’s and although the Palm Desert location shares roots with the original, some of the flavors at this location are unique, and some of the selections found at other stores are not available here.

When I walked in this place, the tiki décor took me back to the islands, and I couldn’t wait for my scoop of Aloha.  There were tables inside and out, an area to fill your own yogurt cups, a huge sprinkle station and a glass area protecting the most delicious flavors of all natural ice cream one could ever hope to stumble upon.

The ice cream itself is crafted from quality ingredients and the end product is superior to most chain ice stores.  The variety of flavors is fun and tropical with combinations you won’t see elsewhere i.e.- Kahlua Truffle, Macadamia Not with Caramel and Cinnamon Caramel.  If you prefer yogurt or even a natural sorbet they have you covered with a variety of flavors bursting with flavors.

In addition to ice cream, you can also get island smoothies,  fresh sorbets, and even a classic Dole whip (life the one served at Disneyland). A variety of interesting items to go like the Donkey Balls (Ghiradelli dark chocolate covered macadamia nuts) or try a freshly baked muffin for the road.
