Fat Greek Brings Big Smiles

Fat Greek, YucaipaI ended up in Yucaipa the other day, and was cruising Yucaipa Blvd looking for a place to eat.  From the Street, The Mad Greek looks like a basic fast food drive through, and the sign outside said Greek, American, and Mexican food.  Well, that’s a pretty broad variety, so I decided to park the car and give the place a try.

As soon as I walked in I noticed it was a bit more than a typical burger place.  Tile floors, clean booths and tables, cooking show on television and one massive menu.  I was more interested in the Greek offerings since after all, the name of the place was the Fat Greek.  Some of the items had photos like the half chicken dinner, traditional gyro, and the Spanakopita.  They have several pita sandwiches in addition to the traditional Gyro, fresh salads, Greek deserts and even Greek Soda and Beer.

I tried the Souvlaki plate and was pleased with my choice.  The skewered beef was flavorful and tender and the portion was more than adequate.  My meal came with rice, pita triangles, and an amazingly fresh Greek salad with an outstanding homemade dressing.  The entire meal was fresh, delicious and nowhere near an ordinary fast food experience.  The Fat Greek is family owned and the food is made from family recipes.  You are treated with kindness from start to finish and the care of the quality of food is evident as soon as it reaches the table.

I don’t know when I will find myself in Yucaipa again, but now that I know the Fat Greek is here, it may be sooner rather than later.
